Robbie Byrne

Sweet Robbie entired my life as my very first nephew 6 years ago today. He instantly stole the heart of every member of our family. Little did we know how short of time we would have with him... I am so thankful that I had the chance to spend an entire summer as his 'nanny.' I love this little guy and look forward to the day when I can see him again.

unBELIZEable

As I mentioned previously, the high school students of Second Baptist Church went to Belize this year for our spring break mission trip. There were a total of 90 students/leaders that went on this trip, 24 students in my particular group from the West Campus. We had an incredible week serving others and shining the light of Christ! I wanted to share a few pictures of our trip:

This was our West Campus group after the fun festival/revival service we led in downtown Orange Walk, Belize.

During the week, our group worked with a local church in San Pablo, Belize. We helped Pastor Ismael (in the picture with a white hat on) finish the side shed of the church by pouring concrete and moving LOTS of dirt/sand. Pastor Ismael and his family prepared authentic Belize food for our group every afternoon for lunch. They were such sweet and loving people. We are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to see what God is doing through this amazing man of God in Belize.

Every afternoon, we would go to the school in San Pablo where were would lead each class in games, songs, and crafts. During the time each of our students would share their testimony with the church and share the love of Christ with them! The children LOVED our students. As we would approach the school every afternoon, they would come running and cheering! I was so proud of our students and their sweet hearts for these young children. After working hard every day, they still managed to muster up some energy to run around and be crazy with a hundred elementary age students:)

God really revealed alot to me personally as well as our entire team. It was so encouraging and eye opening to see how God is and has been working in Belize even before we ever stepped foot in that country. I was so blessed to be a part of His bigger picture and was truly challenged to keep an eternal perspective always.

One of the most memorable moments was when we had the opportunity to see a man that we had met earlier that day and invited to the revival service that night, give his life to Christ. What a memory!

Some little fun extras that we did while we were in Belize:

Toured the Mayan Ruins: this was truly awesome to see and climb on these huge pyramids built thousands of years ago.
Crocodile Hunting: of course this was just for the adult leaders and I honestly cant believe that I wanted to be a part of this, but it was definitely a memorable experience.

REAL girls: DIY crafts

I just thought I would share some of the fun DIY crafts we have done at REAL girls this year! I know that I love finding new easy ideas so hopefully this might help you! If you have any fun easy crafts for girls let me know! I'm open to any and all ideas :)

1. Fringe Scarf: This was really easy! I found this idea (and several others at http://www.psimadethis.com/ ) I told all the girls to bring their own fun colored/patterned tshirt to REAL girls and then we followed the step by step instructions from this 'How to Video'

video

2. Hair Loofah?? :)

Oh yes we did make these! I had a girl from our highschool ministry show us howt omake these fun hair accessories! We actually used a needle, thread, and some fun colored tulle!

3. SUPER EASY Tie Tye Shirts!

I've made tie dye shirt before, using the old rubberbands and dipping in colored dye method before and that is DEFINETLY not any easy breezy method. SO, I found a way easier and more practical way to do this for a large group of girls! This was a definite HIT!

Heres a fun easy instructional video:

We have done several other fun ideas, but I will share those at a later date! Like I said, feel free to share any ideas you may have with me!
